NOSE RESHAPING (RHINOPLASTY)

Nose reshaping surgery is required when there is a prominent hump or a deformity after trauma to the nose. Rhinoplasty surgery may also help improve certain breathing problems.

In the case of a nasal hump, the cartilage and bone is tailored to decrease the height of the nose and also to change the position of the nasal tip, if necessary.

Some patients feel that their nose is excessively wide and requires narrowing. The nose can be narrowed through small incisions on the inside leaving no external scars.

If desired, the tip of the nose can be directed in a more upward direction by trimming the septal cartilage. Other techniques that may sometimes be used includes procedures that will narrow the nostrils when they are too wide or flare out excessively. A broken nose that is slightly bowed after trauma can also be straightened. After nasal surgery most patients will wear a nasal splint for seven to ten days.

Nasal surgery can result in dramatic improvement in a patient's appearance, and is among the post popular cosmetic surgery procedures.
