Dr Hendricks and Patient Featured in CBS Special “BODY HUMAN 2000”
The segment of the hour special tells the amazing story of the successful treatment of an extremely ill patient that developed “Flesh-Eating Disease” from a small scratch on his arm.The story is told through the eyes of the patient, his wife and Dr Hendricks, who with his medical team were able to rapidly diagnose and effectively treat the rapidly progressing infection. By employing an unconventional surgical method, Dr Hendricks was able to not only save this patient’s life from this deadly disease, but also to side-step the standard surgical treatment, which at that time was amputation of the infected part.
