Meet Dr. Hendricks
Dr. Douglas Hendricks, M.D., FACS, is a triple board-certified plastic surgeon and Director of the Pacifica Cosmetic Surgery Center in Newport Beach, CA. Dr. Hendricks is one of a very small percentage of physicians in the United States who are triple board certified in plastic surgery, general surgery, and surgery of the hand. He puts his 20 years of experience to work for his patients as he guides each person to the perfect procedure or combination of procedures that will get the desired results. Dr. Hendricks has spent more than a decade as a full-time teacher and mentor to doctors training in the art and science of plastic surgery.

Specialties and Skills
Dr. Hendricks focuses his Newport Beach plastic surgery practice on cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the breast, face, body, and skin. He offers breast augmentation, breast lift, facelift surgery, and numerous body contouring procedures, such as liposuction, SmartLipo, tummy tuck, and after weight loss surgery (skin removal). His practice also offers patients many nonsurgical choices when it comes to attaining a more youthful appearance. By using BOTOX, injectable fillers, laser resurfacing and other skin rejuvenation treatments, patients can attain a natural, youthful glow.
Education and Training
Dr. Hendricks received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and completed his medical training in various prestigious hospitals across the country. He received his M.D. and completed a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Louisville, one of the premier general surgery and trauma training programs in the country. Leadership and Mentor
Dr. Hendricks served for over 10 years as an associate professor of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University and School of Medicine, where he taught the fine points of cosmetic surgery to many of the board-certified cosmetic surgeons now practicing in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills. His students practice in Southern and Northern California and throughout the United States. His dedication to research is reflected in over 200 research publications and presentations, as well as numerous research awards.
Pacifica Cosmetic Center
After teaching residents in the art of plastic surgery for a decade, Dr. Hendricks accomplished his dream of starting his own private practice, which he opened in Newport Beach in the summer of 2000. Dr. Hendricks has kept Pacifica Cosmetic Surgery Center in the same location to help serve Orange County, the Los Angeles area, and the surrounding counties and states.
Professional Societies
A member of numerous professional societies, Dr. Hendricks stays current on progressive breakthroughs and trends in the field of plastic surgery. He is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties as the only Board whose membership is limited to surgeons specifically trained in a rigorous and comprehensive general surgery and a plastic surgery residency-training program. Dr. Hendricks is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, California Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgeons, and American Association of Hand Surgeons.

The segment of the hour special tells the amazing story of the successful treatment of an extremely ill patient that developed “Flesh-Eating Disease” from a small scratch on his arm.The story is told through the eyes of the patient, his wife and Dr Hendricks, who with his medical team were able to rapidly diagnose and effectively treat the rapidly progressing infection. By employing an unconventional surgical method, Dr Hendricks was able to not only save this patient’s life from this deadly disease, but also to side-step the standard surgical treatment, which at that time was amputation of the infected part. The patient survived with a completely functional arm and hand.

The principle of a Catholic High school was assaulted by an angry student with a shotgun at point-blank range.
Dr Hendricks and his team were able to help save this man’s life and repair the tremendous damage to his lower face through a series of reconstructive surgeries that were required to create a new lower jaw for this patient.
